Playability: Excellent. Album played from start to finish without any glitches or interruptions.
Quality Of MP3s: Very good. All the MP3s we inspected all looked very decent indeed, simply bursting with tiny ones and zeros, in the usual combinations.
Usefulness For Scaring Dogs: Reasonable. Dogs would be frightened by the discordant jangle of Tonie Joy’s guitars. There are a lot of quiet-loud-loud-quiet bits that could be used to creep up on them and then give them a shock. And, at one point, the sound of someone running something metallic along the strings at the bridge of a guitar can be heard: the punk rock equivalent of nails on a blackboard. Dogs likely wouldn’t be scared of Jonathan Vance’s articulate post-Sonic Youth laconicism. In fact, they would probably enjoy it. Dogs have been known to enjoy Steve Malkmus for many of the same reasons.
People It Will Attract: Anyone who owns a copy of This Band Could Be Your Life, assuming they don’t have it already. Emo historians hoping to trace the supposed links between MI’s mid-80s hardcore and Fall Out Boy in 31 easy-to-follow steps. Those members of Joy Division who also have a fondness for Husker Du.
If Moss Icon Were A Member Of Hitler’s High Command: They’d be Rudolf Hess. Obscure, yet very influential. Probably not as guilty of war crimes as a lot of their contemporaries, mainly on account of having got out of the game before the game ended up being up. Will die in jail.
Line You Could Either Tattoo Onto Your Spine Or Use As A Font-Sampler: “We’re on a desert plane/ Where I now stand/ Rubbing dusty eyes/ In the company of a deaf friend/ Whose beginnings I now despise.”
