I’m already in love with Brit singer and total babe, Syron, ever since she debuted the melancholic “Breaking” and swiftly followed it up with “Mainline”, a collaboration with Tensnake that was so unashamedly 90s, you broke out in lycra cycling shorts just listening to it. Syron’s nostalgia heavy style, that draws so heavily on the glory days of UK dance, totally works for her, because she was probably still a foetus back then and isn’t blinded by the bitterness of re-visiting past glories and stuff.
ANYWAY, on brand new track “Waterproof” Syron’s voice is stretched a little further, as her vocal gymnastics are showcased on top of some DnB breaks-tastic production courtesy of Huxley, complete with a plodding, Grimes-esque bassline and that weird cat-having-hiccups type sound effect. In short, she’s one to watch for 2013 guys, and I don’t mean that in a half-arsed journalism, “but will prob disappear by February” kind of way.
