Mariah Carey is a world class diva who has criss-crossed the planet more times than any of us could ever hope to in her nearly 30 year singing career. She’s done movies. She’s done Vegas. She has a perfume. She has seen it all. It’s hard to imagine what it takes to impress someone with this kind of resume. She handles beef with class. She clowned Eminem when he went all jealous ex-lover on her in 2009. She went toe-to-toe with Nicki Minaj on national television as their gloriously ill-fated season of American Idol descended into a celebrity deathmatch. She refuses to acknowledge J-Lo’s existence. Mariah seems perpetually unbothered.

I mention this because a hilarious Mariah meme entered my Twitter feed last night containing a photo from Carey’s luxurious Instagram account. It’s a pic of Mariah on her birthday (yesterday!) holding a glass of champagne at a firework display looking sort of vaguely disinterested. Fireworks, birthdays, and champagne are supposed to be fun activities! I cruised further into her Instagram and discovered that this was a running theme. Maybe Mariah Carey has seen so much of the world that nothing impresses her anymore. How deep does this go? Let’s dive.
