Action Bronson Gets Extremely Sports on ESPN

For all the many things that Action Bronson does well, as a rapper, beard icon, and (giant banner reading SYNERGY tumbles from rafters, accompanied by thousands of balloons) host of MUNCHIES’ “Fuck, That’s Delicious,” he deserves special credit for adding a strong dose of sports to everything he does. Whether it’s throwing down a flawless round-off in a video or paying homage to athletic legends ranging from bruising fullbacks to inexplicably Jewish wrestling heels in his songs, Bronsalino brings the sports as reliably as any rapper alive. This is a man who released a single with cover art depicting himself as David Wells. He is not fucking around about his sports.

All of which would seem to make Action an ideal guest for ESPN’s “Dan Le Batard Is Highly Questionable,” which hosted him for seven wide-ranging minutes of sports-adjacent conversation and a few additional seconds of belly-related competition.

As a guest, Action predictably didn’t disappoint, speaking his mind on risky sex, rapping while pissing, the positives and negatives of doing physical harm to his fans, and making brief, tantalizing mention of his own status as a championship handball player. Just as impressively, he does almost all of it with his eyes closed. That’s a skill that can’t be taught. That’s natural raconteur-ial athleticism, is all that is.
