Rarely do extreme sports look as serene as they do through the aerial eye of an autonomous drone. Above, in one of the first HEXO+ drone flights captured by Xavier De Le Rue, the intelligent drone tracks the snowboarder from afar as he cuts the steep slopes of Galena, British Columbia. By simply attaching a GoPro to the sleek underbelly of the drone and picking his framing settings with the HEXO+ smartphone app, De Le Rue was ready for a no-holds-barred feat of hands-off filmmaking. Of course, this proved ideal for the athlete who, with his cameraman airborne, was able to fully commit himself to “enjoying the pow,” as he writes in the comments on his Facebook page.
