What’s the Worst Song to Have Stuck In Your Head?

The ten worst songs to get stuck in your head, according to YouTube user “comedyguy4u”. (Presumably, with that name, an authority on being annoying.)

Yesterday, an American Airlines flight had to make a early stop in Kansas to kick a woman off the plane. Why? Because she was driving her fellow passengers to the brink of insanity by belting out Whitney’s “I Will Always Love You” for the entirety of the flight. Which is obviously quite mental. What’s more mental is that she continued to sing while being manhandled by security guards as she was escorted off the plane.

Then again, maybe it’s not mental, maybe there’s another reason. Maybe she’s had that song in her head since it first left the charts in 1992. Maybe the only way to deal with that torment – that constant, undying repetition – is to sing it out loud, thereby forcing it out of her brain. But maybe not. I don’t really care. But what I do care about is what the very most annoying song would be to have stuck in your head. With that in mind, I went to ask some strangers a question: What’s the worst song to have stuck in your head?

Joe: The worst song to get on repeat? I’d say quite literally anything by the Spice Girls.

Really? You’re not an admirer?
No, they drive me mental.

You should have gone to see the musical – it would have changed your mind forever.

Laura: Ermm, I’ve got quite a few.

What’s the worst one?
“Gangnam Style”.

I thought you might say that. Although, half a billion YouTube viewers would disagree with you.
No, it’s just too much. It’s still everywhere and it came out months ago.

What about his new one?
What – “Gentleman”? That’s not quite as annoying, I suppose.

Emita: “Gangnam Style”, hands down.

You’re the second person to say that.
Sorry, my English is bad.

No, I just mean someone else said they don’t like that song.
What?

Nevermind.

Tez: “Black Night” by Deep Purple – that’s got to be the worst.

What have you got against Deep Purple?
Nothing, but I was singing it a minute ago when I was walking around the corner. It wouldn’t shut up in my mind, but I eventually got rid of it. Now it’s back in there. Thanks a lot, mate.

No worries.

Tom: Current or all time worst?

Anything that drives you clinically insane.
The Wallace and Gromit theme tune; it drives me mad.

Really? That’s an odd one. I hope I haven’t put it into your head now.
It’s generally there the whole time, to be honest.

It’s there all the time? I’m imagining nuts, bolts and cogs whirling around in your mind constantly.
Yeah, that’s basically what it’s like.

Oh dear – that sounds horrible.
