Brockhampton Stay on Top with Their New Track “Gummy”

Brockhampton are easily one of 2017’s best and most deserved breakout success stories, and today I am pleased to report that that won’t be changing anytime soon. Following the critical success of ringleader Kevin Abstract’s second solo album American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story late last year, they made a huge impact earlier this summer with Saturation, their second mixtape as a group. Side note: It was fun, original, reminiscent of early Odd Future in all the best ways. Now, we know that later this month (no official date yet) they’ll be dropping its follow-up Saturation II.

That’s where the new track “Gummy” comes in. Full of contrasting flows and punctuated by a sung hook so catchy you’ll have it in your head for the next week, it seems to follow pretty directly on from what we heard on Saturation (that is, it’s great), and it’s accompanied by a typically stylish Kevin Abstract-directed video. Listen and watch above, if only because where else today are you going to get a four-minute visual where an annotated bank robbery and a particularly luscious alpaca both feature heavily?
