To call HiDM2_9 a music video would be like calling a Ferrari a car, or the Taj Mahal a house—technically true, but somehow a gross understatement. The glitch-infused, mind-melting speed stream of images and sounds is the latest video art to come from the VJ master craftsmen at BRDG, whose work The Creators Project has covered on several occasions. From distorted browser windows to pouncing polygonal felines, HiDM2_9 slaps you in the face with a jam-packed, mile-a-minute tour of the weird corners of the World Wide Web.
It’s fun to notice the almost subtle Japanese flair that flashes throughout the chaotic onslaught of of strobing shapes and colors. A kimono-clad woman rests next to a small table—as a portal to an inter-dimensional vortex of Internet detritus opens behind her. Audio wavelengths pulse and writhe to the barely rhythmic—yet upbeat—backround music while a Japanese school girl destroys a computer with a baseball bat and dances in circles. The elements within the visual cacophony are definitely out there, but we must accept them as commonplace in order to keep up in the world of HiDM2_9.
