Cyber(punk) Monday | Insta Illustrator

Escape from minimalist ad campaigns and incessant demand that you pay attention to #cybermonday deals this holiday season by plugging in to animator, illustrator, and comic artist Will Sweeney‘s cyberpunk Instagram feed. He’s got cyborg punks with buzz saw mohawks, a mechanized Tower of Babel, and a series of creatures called Protein Folders, which look like a dozen different species of Cyber Men. Sweeney has animated for Sony, HBO, Turner Feature Animaition, Animagic, and Cartoon Network, published a graphic novel about King Arthur, and was one of 25 artists whose work was projected onto the Guggenheim in New York as part of a YouTube takeover.

The majority of Sweeney’s Instagram posts are his imagination’s runoff from these projects, as well as curated inspirational oddities from sources as diverse as Japanese children’s books for his son, old album covers, and photographs of spiders. Dodge Cyber Monday with moments from his cyberpunk world in the posts below. If you really must consume something on the national day of internet buying, you can support Sweeney and several other affiliated artists at Alakazam, a label he co-founded with Japanese artist Ayako Terashima.
