DeAndre Jordan Apologizes, Mark Cuban Does Not Accept

Amazingly, this story still has legs. Last night, DeAndre Jordan tweeted an apology to Mark Cuban, the Mavericks, and Mavericks fans for the bizarre sequence of events that had everyone in the NBA on [fire emoji]. After agreeing to accept a four-year deal with the Mavericks, Jordan had second thoughts and thanks to the eight-day moratorium between the start of free agency and the time contracts can actually be signed, he was able act on those second thoughts. It was a weird couple of days and Jordan, who was obviously dodging Cuban, did not handle it well, so an apology was probably the right move.

That’s pretty good, as far as apologies go. He didn’t pull any of the burden-shifting “sorry if you were offended” apologies we always see, so that was nice. He actually said he was sorry for doing the thing that he did and even called Mark Cuban one of the best owners in the world. The world! Mark Cuban is still feeling spurned though, so he has no use for this apology.

Cuban took a perfect opportunity to remain a sympathetic figure while DeAndre got all the heat and Cyber Dusted the shit out of it. This has happened before and it will surely happen again as long as that moratorium is still in effect. The whole story is already so absurd, no one cares if you think the apology is good enough or written by a PR flak. Take a cue from DeAndre and just walk away, man.
