The FA Cup gets a load of shit from Americans for being boring. Which is weird, because it’s the most like our playoffs-based sports. But nevertheless, as if English ‘Football’ needed to send us a reminder that things can be exciting, this semifinal between the EPL’s top two teams Spurs and Chelsea has been a thrilling fucking one. And nothing is exhibiting that more so than this immaculate combination between Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.
There’s been a solid back-and-forth that saw Chelsea with an early fifth-minute lead from Willian, off of a glorious free kick:

That was then snatched back by a Harry Kane header, and then brought back to the current table-toppers with another Willian goal—a PK awarded after some sloppy play by Son Heung-min. Anyway, all of that mayhem somehow led us to this beautiful combination of Eriksen and Alli. A gorgeously-lofted ball that made Alli find another gear completely to caress the ball gently into the back of the net on a tight little volley. Thank you, FA Cup. You are doing wonders today.
