Bristolian icon and British clubbing legend DJ Derek was first reported missing back in July. Since then there’s been no official sign or sighting of the veteran selector who vanished from his home without warning or providing an indication of his potential whereabouts.
Earlier today, the Bristol Post have reported that Derek’s family have found a possible clue that might lead them to the DJ. At present, the majority of the machinations of the search operation have been focused around an area called Thornbury, as Derek’s bus pass was used to head there from Bristol, a day after he was seen for the last time. The DJ’s niece, Jennifer Griffiths, has revealed that a map has been found in Derek’s home that potentially shows an addition to his journey to Thornbury. It’s now possible that he travelled to Dursley, in South Gloucestershire.

“We have found a map of South Gloucestershire in Derek’s home and he has focussed on the area of Dursley drawing the letter H in a circle on a road there,” Jennifer said, in an interview with the Post. “We think this means hospital. We have figured out that after he got the bus to Thornbury that day he could have got the bus to Dursley just a few minutes later. This could explain why no one in Thornbury has seen Derek. If he had got on another bus then he would have only been stood at the bus stop for around four or five minutes.”
Though Griffiths can’t claim for sure that Derek was intending on visiting the hospital, it’s been alleged that he’d been complaining of a head pain the night before he seems to have boarded a Thornbury bound bus. As such, Griffiths has asked Dursley residents to get in touch if they saw Derek on or around the 11th of July.
