One of the foremost electronic music practitioners of the last forty years, Dieter Moebius, has sadly passed away at the age of 71. Moebius, best known for being one half of dreamy kosmiche duo Cluster, was one of the most respected and acclaimed experimental artists on the circuit, and leaves behind a legacy stuffed with incredible records.
The German’s relationships — forged at art school — with Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Conrad Schnitzler effectively changed the face of contemporary music. From the atmospheric proto-ambient and brittle early-electronica of the material released under the Cluster banner to the spine-tingling krautrock of the Michael Rother assisted Harmonia project — seriously, if you know many other albums as singularly perfect as Musik Von Harmonia then please do let us know — through to the countless, endless solo endeavours and collaborative efforts he accumulated throughout the years, Moebius was fearlessly innovative, a creative powerhouse dedicated to total exploration of music’s limitless possibilities.
