A nationwide effort to ease severe hiring restrictions for rehabilitated felons has been steadily building in recent years. But the NCAA has gone in the opposite direction — in 2012, the college league banned anyone who had been convicted of any kind of felony from participating in any NCAA-certified event, whether as a referee, organizer or coach. Now, one of the coaches is fighting back.
Dominic Hardie is suing the NCAA on grounds that the new rule violates the Civil Rights Act, because the vast majority of people it affects are minorities. And the case could go all the way up to the Supreme Court.
