It’s pretty much a given that Frank Ocean’s output over the six years or so is basically not improvable, though it is interesting to hear it with a different feel. Producer Sángo has given Blonde track “Nights” a refreshed lease of life in the newest of his “Bounced It” remixes, and honestly, it sounds awesome.
For those of us who are intimately familiar with Blonde (raise your hand if you fell asleep to it every night for the whole of the summer of 2016. It’s OK, we’re all in this together), the new spin is both a little jarring and super exciting. Immediately the track’s recognisable piano is livened up with vocals and a beat, and Sángo seems to strike the perfect balance between adding the Bounced It sensibility, and keeping the best bits of the original. It builds up to something that can only be described as a total bop, and I’d recommend walking in your nearest patch of sun to it at your next possible convenience.
