These Are the First Great ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ Videos Made by Players

It’s here. As of today, Grand Theft Auto V is finally out on PC.

The launch hasn’t been without its problems (first there was a lengthy delay and now some users are reporting problems with their usernames), but it’s already garnering rave reviews from players. Notably, the coolest part of this version is its Rockstar Editor, an in-game tool that lets players record and edit their own gameplay footage.

To promote the power of this editing tool, Rockstar Games teamed up with 8-Bit Bastard, a group famous for their elaborate Grand Theft Auto movies, to create the first ever short film made with the feature.

Nothing much happens in Running, Man, as the two-minute short movie is called, besides Trevor Phillips, well, jogging everywhere. But it gives you a glimpse how versatile this tool is.

“Trevor has never looked sexier than he does in slow motion on PC—on that we can all agree,” the creators’ write on YouTube. “You can almost smell those sweaty running shorts.”

Keyword: Almost!

And they’re not the only ones making their own homemade videos.

For starters, there’s this violent video of a police versus pedestrian brawl:

Or this, aptly described “deep and thought provoking story of love and then eventually death.”

Lastly, watch at this mountain of a woman (named “Barbara Schwartzburger”) knock the shit out of a military person.

There’s a long tradition of in-game video making tools (Source Filmmaker is a big one), but Grand Theft Auto V gives players so many high quality assets to work with, the possibilities here are endless.
