Kim Anh has been a fixture in Los Angeles’ party scene thanks to her queer, female-friendly party Booby Trap!, along with gigs all over the city and a residency at the Ace Hotel’s YOWSAH. Today, the DJ and producer is releasing her debut single “Shadows” on Yellow Year Records, which she co-produced with fellow Angelino Sam Sparro (the songwriter behind ZHU and AlunaGeorge’s recent hit, “Automatic”). Building over a chunky bassline, Anh channels her inner diva as she warns, “don’t go breaking my heart.”
“I’m very drawn to the gospel influences in Chicago house and disco,” Anh tells THUMP. “‘Shadows’ is based very much on these elements, and my own personal experience as well.” Listen to the track below, and watch out for remixes from Eli Escobar, Roy Davis Jr, and JT Almon.
