In Appreciation of the Han Solo Dance from ‘Kinect Star Wars’

In our sad, dark reality, it can be important sometimes to stop, take a deep breath, and appreciate the wonderful absurdities around us. One of my personal favorites in this genre is the very best dance sequence from Kinect Star Wars, not a great game by many standards. But my oh my, does it have a great song.

The setup is pure cheese, the song itself the strongest velveeta squeeze you can imagine. Han Solo has been freed from the carbonite while still in Cloud City (they take some liberties), and, well, he sings and dances.

“No Jabba to answer to/ain’t a fixture in the palace zoo, no” he swoons, while pulling off signature, Dance Central knockoff moves like “the speeder” and “falcon in flight.”

“I’m so happy the carbonite’s gone/I’m moving on,” he sings. Later, he fully affirms that he’s moving on with his life, his brief time as a statue finished.

“I’m jumping in my falcon/wookie at my side/I’m solo, I’m Han Solo/I’m Han Solo.”

We can all learn a little something from this overjoyed version of Han Solo, the coolest man in the universe rendered utterly goofy by the power of song and dance.

It’s magical.
