Mexico is reeling from the deadliest earthquake to hit the country in 30 years. Tuesday’s 7.1 magnitude earthquake sent massive tremors throughout Mexico City, flattening buildings and trapping dwellers inside. More than 200 people have been reported killed, and the death toll is expected to rise.
VICE News spoke to residents and first responders who attempted to rescue survivors trapped in debris. At one collapsed building, hundreds of volunteers joined together with uniformed officials to clear the rubble.

Tuesday also marked the 32 anniversary of the devastating 1985 earthquake, which killed as many as 5,000 people.
