Islanders and Capitals Brawl After New York Forces Game 7

If this is the last game at Nassau Coliseum, and if the Islanders don’t win on the road Monday night it will be, it was a pretty damned good one. The Islanders beat the Capitals 3-1 and, thanks to a late shot from John Carlson after the final horn sounded, had themselves a nice little brawl before turning off the lights.

Kyle Okposo roughed up Carlson and he was immediately swallowed up by the surrounding Capitals. Thomas Hickey and Marcus Johansson were vigorously hugging it out before Hickey went to the ice and Johansson started wailing on him. Everyone but the goalies got in on the act as a mix of boos, cheers, and beers rained from the stands. Oh, yeah, and a booming “ass-hole” chant. Up next at the Coliseum? Deafening silence, or a series against the Rangers. Hoo boy.
