Parisian label ClekClekBoom’s 18th release is a sultry four track EP titled Various Cuts #1. This release features France’s Rinse FM resident, Jean Nipon, who turns in his standout track “Cause of Action.”
Nipon’s origin in dance music dates back to 1997 when he began DJing. Before that, he was a drummer in hardcore bands and his rhythmic aptitude is apparent. “Cause of Action,” is a savory number with a syncopated bassline and heavy, off-kilter kick pattern. This tune is equal parts danceable grit and subtle lusciousness—a formula all too infrequently captured in contemporary club music.

“Cause of Action” fits the identity of ClekClekBoom’s collection of deep cuts perfectly. The persona of the four track Various Cut’s #1 was carefully curated.
“The idea of Various Cuts is to gather different producers from the label on the same piece of wax,” say Adrien, ClekClekBoom co-founder and artistic director. “This new series offers a real versatile weapon for DJs. It also gives a taste of the development of our artists and confirms what we want to offer musically through the label.”
