We’ve been straight bangin’ Jesse Slayter and Wuki’s “That’s Right” since they dropped the tune on Jeffree’s last week. It’s a bassline track that’ll have the likes of those in Birmingham (UK) quaking in their soggy wellies.
Slayter and Wuki are both known for hopping around genres when working solo, so their collaborative efforts could have ended up in any sonic direction, but it was undeniable whomp of bassline that came calling. “I kind of fell into the sound after a lot of experimenting,” Slayter tells THUMP. “When I heard what Wuki was working on over in Colorado we immediately linked up and started working on tunes.”

One thing that ties them both is that they’re known purveyors of genre-busting releases. “I’ve been trying to find the ‘Wuki’ sound for a few years and I feel like I’ve danced all over genres to get to this point,” says Wuki. “I don’t ever want to be bound to a specific genre but I feel like my soundset is developed enough where people can recognize my productions.”
Slayter’s on the same page: “I feel like this new one was pretty weird, but still one of my favorite releases so far. I can only hope my future plans involve music equally as weird and outside of the norm.”
The duo boast releases on OWSLA, Mad Decent, Fools Gold and Main Course between them, so there’s a whole lot of label experience going behind their moves. “One thing they have in common is that they’re all releasing top notch forward thinking music,” says Wuki.
