Stanley Wilson II hasn’t played in the NFL since 2007 but he keeps himself in the news by getting arrested while naked. Saturday afternoon marked the third time in about eight months that police have taken Wilson into custody while he was not wearing any clothes.
The Oregonian reports that the former Detroit Lions cornerback allegedly was “acting erratically” and made “alarming statements” to a homeowner who was standing in his garage, before the homeowner closed the garage door and called police. Wilson also tried unsuccessfully to enter the home through the front and back doors, police said.

“When police arrived on the scene,” the Oregonian says, “Wilson allegedly emerged from a backyard shed, naked. He cooperated with officers and was taken into custody.”
Wilson was arrested also while naked in January, and it prompted a heartbreaking mugshot:
He was sentenced to ten days in jail.
The first time Wilson was arrested was in June 2016, when a different homeowner shot Wilson in the abdomen as he tried to break into his home. It was an ugly incident, according to the Washington Post:
“Police accused him of trying to burglarize another house in that area on the same day, as well as spitting on an officer, and Wilson was charged with first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, second-degree disorderly conduct and aggravated harassment.”
At the time, Wilson said he was just “happy to be alive.”
Since then, the Oregonian also reports that Wilson tested positive for methamphetamine, and was ordered to drug treatment sessions, of which he has attended at least one.
What makes the Wilson case even more tragic is that Wilson’s father, Stanley Tobias Wilson Sr., is most famous for his Super Bowl XXIII drug relapse that got him suspended for the big game and, more or less, kicked out of the league. In 1999, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison for stealing. His lawyer at the time said Wilson had been diagnosed as bipolar.
