Kimbra is an underrated pop of color in the electro musical landscape. Her sonic eclecticism and bright soprano soar across her recent album, The Golden Echo, and its lead single, “90s Music.” As an ode to the boombox’s last decade of relevance, the track couldn’t be delivered by a more enthusiastic cheerleader. DJ Shadow and Salva clearly agree as their remix not only champions the original but infuses it with some rump-shaking bass. Who even does proper remix videos anymore? Labels behind Grammy-winners apparently (Kimbra picked up a handful of trophies for her 2011 collab with Gotye, remember?). This video flips the color switch on the already crayon-saturated original, highlighting some sweet dance moves and costumes that would make an ArtRave attendee salivate. Pump up your Pumps, pump up your stereos and pump up this jam. Shadow and Salva have delivered Kimbra to the club.
