Listen to Destruction Unit’s “The World on Drugs”

A few weeks back, I saw Destruction Unit play at the densely packed and unfathomably sweaty Shea Stadium in Brooklyn. Having never heard them before, the music certainly lived up to the name. The set was chaotic, mesmerizing and above of all, loud as hell. It reminded me of my youthful days of going to shows, leaving with a ringing in my ears like a bomb had just gone off in my face.

If you have any questions as to why this band often gets slapped with the psychedelic genre, their latest single “The World on Drugs” is the perfect answer; it’s gnarly, twisted and you are most likely supposed to drop acid to it. Destruction Unit’s first studio album, appropriately titled Deep Trip, will be out on Sacred Bones August 20th. You can preorder the album right here, but if you don’t want to wait for that, you can pick up their Two Strong Hits seven-inch, which is out next week on Suicide Squeeze.
