Quentin Tarantino has been recycling old themes from spaghetti Western maestro Ennio Morricone for a while now. The director has re-used songs from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and other Morricone-scored classics in Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds, and Django Unchained, but this time around, the legendary composer has penned a completely new soundtrack for Tarantino’s upcoming film, The Hateful Eight. It’s the first original Ennio Morricone Western score in 40 years, and Western-heads are suitably excited. It’s even up for a Golden Globe.

On Tuesday, The Hateful Eight‘s YouTube channel released a seven-minute piece of the score, titled “L’Ultima Diligenza di Red Rock – Versione Integrale,” a few days ahead of the official recording’s December 18 release through Decca and Third Man.
The song is classic Morricone, right down to the guttural male chanting, and it sounds like it’ll pair perfectly with everything we’ve seen of the movie so far. Thank god Ennio Morricone and Quentin Tarantino worked out that beef they had a few years back.
The Hateful Eight will be released Christmas Day, with or without police union protestors in tow.
