Vince Staples and his older cousin Joey Fatts have put together some smart tracks over the last couple years. 2016’s “Farrakhan” was a fiery three minutes that exhibited both artists’ pointed, sharp flows. Summertime 06‘s more disorienting, strung-out “Dopeman” and the laid back “Lindo,” from Fatts’s Chipper Jones Vol 2, were both intriguing, too; the two grew up together and they clearly know how to work around each other’s bars.
Yesterday, the two reunited again on “562.” Produced by Drake/Young Thug collaborator and South Carolina native Supah Mario, it features a gospel-and-piano-led beat, allowing both Fatts and Staples the space to stretch their flows out. Listen to it below, via The Fader.
