Maniac Fan Jumps over Glass and Runs around Ice at OHL Game

In the midst of a wild first night of the 2016-17 NHL season, one crazy fan took it upon himself to remind everyone that the OHL is still a thing.

The Mississauga Steelheads took on the visiting Guelph Storm in front of a crowd just shy of 2,000 people at the Hershey Centre on Wednesday night. And in the midst of an 11-3 blowout by the hometown Steelheads, one crazy—and most likely stupidly drunk—fan decided to make a scene and get the dull crowd riled up by jumping over the glass and running (and sliding) around the ice.

Although the referees let him have his fun and steered clear of the maniac for a bit, they were eventually forced to escort the fan off the ice. He didn’t like that.

It was undoubtedly a ridiculous scene at the Hershey Centre, but it was something for players and fans to relish during a blowout win in an empty building. The players on the winning side certainly didn’t complain.

Although it was a dangerous and stupid thing for this fan to do, I kind of feel bad for the guy… a friend probably just texted him that Auston Matthews scored four goals in his NHL debut, and he went crazy after realizing he missed the epic performance in favour of a boring OHL game. I know I would have.
