Trump's Trans Military Ban, Russian Ads, and Working Out During Work

On this episode of 'The VICE Guide to Right Now' podcast, we discuss major tech companies' testimony on Russia, the ruling on transgender soldiers in the military, and exercising at work.

On The VICE Guide to Right Now, VICE's new daily podcast, we delve into the biggest news of the day and give you a rundown of the stories we're reading, working on, and most fascinated with.

Today, we check in with Dhani Oaks, who covered the phenomenon of people working out during the workday for Tonic. Studies show even a brief session at work leaves employees healthier, happier, and more productive for the rest of the day. Plus, exercising with other people releases Oxytocin in your brain—a neurotransmitter that bonds you to the folks around you.

This week in Washington, Facebook, Twitter, and Google are testifying about the Russian disinformation that flooded their platforms during the 2016 election. Facebook has already revealed roughly a third of the US population was exposed to Russian-backed content, while Twitter said more than 36,000 Russian-linked accounts pumped out election-related posts—far greater numbers than the companies revealed previously.

Lastly, President Trump's attempt to ban transgender personnel from the military hit a major roadblock Monday when a federal judge blocked key components of his plan. Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly ruled the ban would likely violate the constitution.
