Mike Skinner’s Club Vision Displayed During the Desperados Next Level Party Was on Another Level

Clubs have always found a home in unusual places, more often than not below ground in car parks, bunkers, and even vaults. So when Mike Skinner curated a party together with Desperados, he decided to take the concept of a club to the next level; creating a towering clubbing experience that took up several floors of Peckham’s labyrinthine Bussey Building.

Even regular patrons of Bussey might well have found themselves disorientated. Skinner, relishing the opportunity to be the club’s prankster for the evening, had a number of tricks up his sleeve. Fake doors and temporary walls were dotted around the venue, some leading to dead ends others to the next stage of the party. The whole thing was sort of like the video for DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What”, only running amok up the floors of the Bussey rather than crashing down through them.

It took a group effort to charge through a temporary wall to get to the party’s second level, where none other than Skinner himself was DJing. Things got a lot more surreal from here on in, with the third level looking like a cross between the Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars and the club scenes from Total Recall. Dotted in and among the party goers were suited and bowler-hatted robots with screens for faces. While the party might have finally settled on the third floor, there to take the party up another level – so to speak – were a host of DJs including Stanton Warriors, Preditah, Oxide & Neutrino and Mumdance.
