Monki’s Mixed up an Absolute Storm Ahead of Her Fabriclive Launch Party

Lucy Monkman, known to most of us as Monki, is undisputedly one of the most exciting DJs on the UK scene. Her dizzying, delirious, genre-spanning sets are expertly paced razzes through pretty much every area of the bass spectrum. Her radio assisted rise through the ranks — Monkman’s been everywhere from local stations to Radio 1 and a three year stint on Rinse FM — has culminated in being given the nod by the silver-tinned superpower of commercially available mixes, fabric. Fabriclive 81, dropping next month, is an instant classic addition to the series that’s by now the definitive Who’s Who of contemporary dance music.

That mix is a frantic tear-through everything from the acidic jackin’ of DJ Haus to Floorplan’s riotously stiff house workouts, via Melé’s grimey mutations and the steely club music sounds of Dr Jeep. She’s also sent this promo mix over to us here at THUMP ahead of Friday night’s launch party at the Farringdon institution and it’s a thirty minute blast that’s more fun than banging down Haribo and Cherry Coke at Thorpe Park. Trust us.
