The Creators Project was beyond proud to see an array of friends and collaborators receive Oscar nominations this morning for their work on Spike Jonze’s Her. Not only did Jonze receive noms for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Original Song, but a variety of The Creators Project’s family got deserved recognition, as well.
Karen O. shared the Best Original Song nomination with Jonze, Will Butler of Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett were recognized for the amazing score, and K.K. Barrett–who designed the spectacular psycho-opera, Stop The Virgens, with Karen O. at The Creators Project’s 2011 New York event–is up for Best Production Design. We could not be more excited for these amazing artists.

Coincidentally, today The Creators Project presents the trailer for Love In The Modern Age, a documentary directed by the legendary Lance Bangs (who also directed our profile of Jonze) that features stories and reflections about love, relationships, and responses to Her. A variety of artists, musicians, writers, and contemporary culture experts openly talked with Bangs about some heavy topics, including Olivia Wilde, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, Bret Easton Ellis, and more.
Jonze has created one of the most intimate investigations into our ties to tech with Her. The film focuses on love, loss, and how artificial intelligence may alter our perceptions of those abstract ideas–as well as how our conceptualization of a “relationship” is already changing.
Bangs further develops Her‘s exploration into present-day human connectivity by talking to some of the best creative thinkers who often use the central themes of Jonze’s movie–love, relationships, and idiosyncratic emotional behavior–as a springboard for their own artistic endeavors.
Watch the trailer for the new documentary above, and stay posted for the full film, which will be premiering on The Creators Project soon. And again, congratulations to all our creative friends and family for their Oscar nominations, even Johnny Knoxville and the Bad Grandpa crew got a nod for Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling. We couldn’t be prouder.
