If you want to explode into 2017 with gritty determination, you’re going to need a proper soundtrack. Shotguns in Hell is a collaborative album that unites New York hip-hop pioneers Onyx with Dutch hardcore rappers Dope D.O.D. The record, dropping sometime this year, will have features from 100 Mad and Stompdown Killaz movement affiliates Snak The Ripper, Sickflo and Dopey Rotten. The first release is “XXX,” produced by Tjibs. Directed by Andres Fouche, the video shows members of Dope D.O.D.—Skit Vicious and Jay Reaper—along with Onyx—Sticky Fingaz and Fredro Starr—mean mugging through the streets of LA. The chorus will blast a warning to any doubters of your newfound greatness: “When you hear the gun/ Bang bang bang.”
“Having two distinct sounds yet packing the same energy and aggression—it’s a lethal combination!” Skit Vicious of Dope D.O.D. told Noisey. “There’s a chemistry when we work with Onyx that doesn’t need to be forced. We feed off each other’s way of approaching a theme. It’s a constant battle for lyrical supremacy! And we tried to assemble a combination of beats that create a sound which makes both styles meet.” Watch the video for “XXX” by Onyx and Dope D.O.D. below:
