After seeing a blank wall with a single pepperoni pizza tagged on it, LA photographer Jonpaul Douglass got the idea to make his own pizza portraits on Instagram. He told Global Yodel that he imagined his perfect subject as a “Ninja Turtles Pizza” (thick crust, round, pepperoni) but he settled for its real-life runner-up, Little Caesars.
Each “Pizza in the Wild” is fresh; no shellac or freezing involved (in case you were wondering). It’s how Douglass gets such slidey cheese and glistening pepperoni, just like in the, um, wild? But sometimes he will refrigerate certain subjects because, as every good artist knows, “some situations call for a floppy pizza and some call for a stiff pizza.”

The ingredients may not be organic, but we’re still going to call these wildlife pizzas natural.
