Zhongjia Sun is a visual artist who recently graduated from Parsons School of Design with an MFA in photography. In her work, she typically confronts how advertisers use still-life photography to market products, manipulating ordinary images in surprising ways to challenge our perception of art in consumer culture. Sun also self-publishes an equally disruptive, colorful magazine called Common Common. Her work has been exhibited in New York City and internationally, including, most recently, at the Pingyao International Photography Festival in China. —Elizabeth Renstrom
