For those who love to #turnup, the Trillectro festival is an all-around mecca. Held this past weekend at the Fairground in Southeast Washington, DC, the bonanza brought together cross-pollinated strains of dirty South-style hip-hop and EDM-branded beats, an unholy matrimony that made a ton of sense and probably should have happened sooner. Granted, this was not a purely trap-tastic event—the lineup included some of hip-hop’s finest as well as DJs from further afield—but the influence of the quickly expanding, twerk-inducing sound was nearly ubiquitous throughout the party. Rap heavy weights like Wale and A$AP Ferg held it down while on other stages DJ top guns like Carnage, Salva, Nadastrom and DJ Sliink pumped out the 808s for those looking for extra pep in their step. Thanks to events like Trillectro, it’s cool to be a straight dude on the dancefloor once again (especially because the dancefloor is more like a moshpit than anything). Check out some mind-boggling images captured by our boy Lucas Alvarado and keep your eye out for next year’s Trillectro, so you can boogie down with the rest of ’em in our nation’s capital.
