The release of New York queercore heroes PWR BTTM‘s second album Pageant is approaching thick and fast, and to remind us they’ve dropped “LOL,” the third new track (after “Big Beautiful Day” and “Answer My Text“) from the record.
In typical PWR BTTM style, it’s a rousing rock track that juxtaposes big feelings with small ones, and gets much of its emotion from its simplicity, in the vein of Ugly Cherries cut “New Hampshire.” The band’s signature heartfelt, insightful lyrics are present and correct, and “LOL” doesn’t whet your appetite for Pageant—sure to be one of 2017’s stand out rock albums if Liv Bruce and Ben Hopkins’ previous efforts are anything to go by—you’re definitely listening wrong.
