Rabit and Lee Bannon Are a Deadly Combination on ‘R&D’

Houston sound architect Rabit has been spending time in the studio with beat experimentalist Lee Bannon, and their first collaborative effort is due out this month. The four-track R&D EP—which the duo refer to as an “industrial fusion of ourselves”—is out as a self-released white label on the 28th, and digitally via Ninja Tune on the 19th. It’s the second release where Bannon appears under the name Dedekind Cut, an alias he unveiled towards the end of last year.

You can listen to the first two tracks below, which were premiered by radio tastemaker Mary Anne Hobbs earlier this month. You can clearly hear Rabit’s cinematic sound design coming together with Bannon’s penchant for warped rhythms and hazy textures. Plus a dash of juiced-up jungle breaks for that extra sharp edge.
