Detroit house pioneer Moodymann, GHE20G0TH1K founder Venus X, and Brooklyn multimedia artist Juliana Huxtable are some of the biggest names to be announced today on the lineup for the fifth annual RBMA NYC festival. The genre-spanning program will take place across venues all over the city from April 29–May 21, and there will be 16 events in total, ranging from celebrations of iconic musical figures to nights dedicated to today’s most cutting-edge sounds.
The first night of the festival will be dedicated to Brazil’s baile funk genre, and feature scene standouts including MC Bin Laden and MC Carol alongside Venus X, DJ Assault and more. From there, other events set to follow include a Moodymann tribute set to Prince, a night dedicated to the Durban-based dance genre gqom, and tributes to otherworldly jazz musician Alice Coltrane and influential disco and boogie producer Patrick Adams.
