If I told you that on this day in 1918 Fanny Kaplan shot and wounded Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin, how would you react? You’d probably just look blankly at me. Which would be understandable. But what if I then went on to tell you that exactly 181 years ago today the city of Melbourne was founded? You’re walking off now. Right. If, though, you can still hear me, I’ve got a treat for you. I’m telling you that today, this very day, right now, on Tuesday the 30th of August, 2016, we’re bringing you an exclusive listen to a brand new remix by Bas Bron under his Fatima Yamaha moniker. And you’re back! How wonderful. Thanks.
Bron’s got his magic hands on Dutch dreamer Sofie Winterson’s song “KIDS” and the result is a lugubrious slow-motion roller that bobs about in a charmingly cosmic manner. Anchored around a fuzzy, swollen bassline that could knock most nightclubs down in seconds, Bron’s turned Winteron’s gorgeously gauzy, Sally Shapiro-esque original into the kind of dancefloor ready weapon that’s covered in glitter and stinks of sweat.
