Blake is one of the most observant, meticulous authors we know, and he specializes in writing biographies of other writers—a very tricky thing to do well. His first piece for us was on the downfall of cult author Alfred Chester. An excerpt from his forthcoming John Cheever bio, , graced our History Issue a few months ago.
