The Our First 100 Days project began on the day that Donald Trump, a racist, misogynistic megalomaniac with a waning grip on reality, was sworn is as President of the United States. Since then, its contributions have run the gamut from overt anti-Trump songs to apolitical demos (if such things exist). They’ve always been worth a listen, and the money that the project has raised for groups that stand opposed to Trump’s policies is hugely impressive. When the project comes to an end a month from now, we’ll have a kaleidoscopic time capsule.
The 73rd installment of the project, released today, is one of the most bizarre yet. Timothy Showalter’s Strand of Oaks project, so often oscillating between country and rock, has emerged with “I Know YOU Know You’re Evil,” a six-minute instrumental that drives from beautiful daydream ambience to guttural horror electronics. And, yeah, you know who HE knows knows he’s evil.
