The Sydney suburb of Petersham figures prominently in Jack Lee’s third solo album No Limits.
Lee, the frontman of the popular Beef Jerk, recorded the album in his bedroom in the inner west area known for it’s Portuguese community. It’s at Petersham’s White Cockatoo hotel that Lee meets his Brisbane friend Dusty Anastassiou in the song “Stuck in Sydney” after Dusty’s car breaks down and he’s stuck for a place to stay. Another of Lee’s friends Nathan Roche sings “Sagres” a track about Elite Wine Importers, a Petersham liquor store known for it’s cheap Portuguese beer.

Enlisting the help of Lincoln Brown (Housewives, Ghastly Spats) and Craig Lyons (Weak Boys, Disgusting People), Lee has put together a catchy and lovably ramshackle group of pop songs.
Speaking about “Stuck in Sydney” which Lee co-wrote with Anastassiou, he explains, “We ran into Dusty’s Dad by coincidence in Petersham after recording this and we all got coffee.
Sometimes Dusty lets me play bass in his band Dag. We recorded this on my Dell PC digitally in 2014 in my bedroom. I think it was in July because we had a Pimms at a Xmas-in-July dinner a few nights later at Steph, Jean, Sadie and Lincoln’s place around the corner.”
‘No Limits’ is available on CD and digitally from Dec 18 on Osborne Again.
