The Editors’ New Groove is a weekly pow-wow on the freshest new releases on THUMP’s editors and regular contributors’ radars.
Max Pearl: You know what pisses me off? Tasteless throwback—poseurs making shoddy, soulless facsimiles of 1993 Chicago house classics. You know what doesn’t piss me off at all? Kallisti’s fantastic new album, Arc of Fire, and its clever take on dusty old hardcore rave and jungle records. Good job dude.

David Garber: This new track by the Bondax boys shares a couple similarities to to an expertly crafted blunt. It burns reaaal slow, and it puts me in such a state of hypnosis that I actually walked into a metal pole last night. Yes, my head hurts.
Joel Fowler: If you hate bobbing and dislike fun you should avoid playing this at all costs. Mom better give the glowsticks back because DC’s Beautiful Swimmers drenched this thang in breaky sweaty goodness coming out on LIES unsuitably titled Music For Shut-Ins.
Michelle Lhooq: Ferry Corsten is probably the only SUPER DUPER FAMOUS DJ who I don’t want to roast on a spit. Maybe it’s because his trancey hits—at their best—carry an immense emotional payoff that doesn’t feel manipulative. Or maybe it’s just cause he popped a bottle of champagne during our interview. Either way, this is classic Corsten: sprightly and ethereal, like breakdancing with angels or something.
David Garber: If you’re into expertly crafted, melodic and all-around delicious dubstep then I highly recommend you pick up the Groove Booty Vol.II compilation from the Chord Marauders, which consists of Geode, Congi, B9 and Jafu. This lovely cut, aptly titled “She,” will make you want to slip into a sexy velvet trench coat. Wait a goddamn second! I thought dubstep was supposed to make your head explode?
