The THUMP Monday Morning Mix Series: Pete Baxter of Smooch Records

So winter is well and truly with us, and you’re coaxing yourself off to work or up for coffee, or waiting for your useless housemate to get out of the shower for once in his god damned life, and you need a little help getting through it. We get it. We’re with you. We hate housemates.

Today help comes in the silky, smooth form of a mix by Smooch Records‘ Pete Baxter. Smooch, a Melbournian recording studio and a label, was founded by Melbourne-based musician Josh Delaney in early 2014. As of rn, it hosts five artists—including SMILE (Baxter and Delaney’s band together), THUMP favourites OCDANTAR and Rat & Co, and recent international signees Young Magic.

Baxter’s breadth of musical knowledge—and apparent love for making a good old fashioned mixtape—means that this morning’s MMM is a real goer. A little more chill and a little less doof, let this one make the day feel like you never got out of bed in the first place.
