English trio The xx have shared a new, untitled snippet of music on Spotify via their official “The xx: in the studio” playlist. It is the second 55 second snippet they have shared through the playlist, replacing the previous fragment yet maintaining stylistic congruence with its ambient-leaning tone. A slowly reverberating guitar is audible, as well as what sounds like bandmember Oliver Sim’s voice.
Both tracks have sounded like the band, but their track titles, artist names, and album titles have simply been “-” while the artwork has been a plain white square. Notably, though, Spotify attributes copyright to the band’s label, the London-based Young Turks recordings.

The group has lately posted a number of photos on Instragram of themselves in the studio, and have a handful of tour dates booked from now up until April of next year. Despite these indicators that they have new material in the works, the band has not officially announced what would be their third studio LP.
The xx are one of Shakira’s favorite bands, and believe it or not she’s covered their song “Islands” live and even recorded a studio version.
