This Mix by Retiree is So Chill You’ll Want to Quit Your Job Just to Enjoy It

We don’t think we’re being ridiculous in saying that Retiree are one of Australia’s best bands. The now trio of Matt Crowley, Tori Holleman and Marco Vella have managed to create and sustain a cohesive mix of extremely chill dance vibes and extremely chill pop-y guitars with the band—always pared back enough to leave you wanting.

To celebrate the release of their latest single “Continental,” Retiree made us an exclusive mix, featuring soothing bird noises—very Retiree, a Graham Nash edit, Night Moves, and a cover of Donnie & Joe Emerson’s “Baby” by Holleman and The Harpoons’ Bec Rigby.

If we had to describe it, which we don’t, but we will, we’d say it sounds like laying back on a pool lilo and floating around in the dappled sun for approximately 100 years.

Listen to the beautiful, sunny mix below, and catch Retiree’s “Continental” launch in Melbourne this weekend at Boney, with support from SHOUSE and CORIN—more info here—or at Boiler Room’s Rhythm Section takeover at Melbourne’s Night Cat on November 25, which was announced this morning.
