VICE is Giving Away Copies of Limelight

VICE is in the process of setting up an interview with a certain space restricted NYC club kid, so to celebrate (is that a thing to celebrate? Yes, it is) we’re doing a giveaway for copies of Limelight, the documentary on the famed drug/dance/hot mess of an institution run by Peter Gatien not too long ago.

LIMELIGHT follows Peter Gatien, undisputed king of the 1980s club scene and owner of the famed New York hotspots including Limelight, Tunnel, Palladium, and Club USA.  As famous for his innovative clubs as he was for the eye patch he donned, at the pinnacle of his success, tens of thousands of partygoers lined up each night outside the doors of Gatien’s venues hoping for entry.  Influencing future icons including Madonna, The Beastie Boys and Moby – who is also interviewed for the film – Gatien’s clubs engendered influential musical genres such as pop, punk, techno, and acid house, to name a few.  Yet Gatien’s phenomenal success put his venues on the radar of New York City Mayor Guliani’s infamous crackdown on drugs and crime, and Gatien and his clubs soon became law enforcement’s number one target.

This film was produced by Jen Gatien, Peter’s daughter, and features interviews with everyone under the sun.

First two people to send an email to reviews@vice.com with their address, and a picture of themselves wearing an eye patch (in honor of Peter of course) will get a DVD.
