Pretty interesting FIFA story broke late Friday, European time. Der Spiegel is alleging an Adidas executive helped the German bid committee for the 2006 World Cup bribe several FIFA officials to secure the tournament for Germany.
That’s not the only embarrassing thing to happen in Germany this weekend! Last night, Hannover beat Cologne 1-0. The goal was the result of a blatant handball, which the ref apparently didn’t see.
Lewis Hamilton won the Russian Grand Prix. He is now very close to securing the driver’s championship. His win secured his team, Mercedes, the Constructors’ Championship.
Your Rugby World Cup semifinalists are South Africa, Australia, Argentina, and New Zealand. The quarterfinals took place over the weekend, and Australia’s 35-34 defeat of Scotland was by far the closest contest.

If you’re having trouble getting into the rugby tournament, consider this:
The U-17 World Cup is underway. No doubt wanting to keep in line with Jurgen Klinsmann’s senior team, the U.S. team emphatically lost its first match 2-0 to Nigeria. It’s all good though, because the team will have a chance to make up for it against Brazil and South Korea, Group B’s two other teams.
Jurgen Klopp steered Liverpool to a 0-0 draw against Tottenham. It was not the most exciting game to watch! However, Liverpool did look quite different with the German in charge. Michael Cox has a good explanation of just how Klopp looks to be changing the team.

Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs are opening a boutique hotel. Their plans seem to have been put on hold, however, after some homeless squatters moved in. The former United superstars have apparently told their unwanted guests that they’re welcome to stay for the winter.
