THAT WAS A LIE. Or wait, maybe it wasn’t. While everyone took some Marine Spokeswoman’s word as truth that Beyoncé’s earth-shatteringly perfect rendition of the National Anthem at Obama’s inauguration was pre-recorded, some of her higher-ups are clarifying her statements a bit. Er, a lot. Says Marine Corps Spokesman Captain Gregory Wolf released a statement clarifying the original Marine Corps statement, explaining that Marine Corps Band, who backed Knowles, was using a pre-recorded track. “Regarding Ms. Knowles-Carter’s performance,” however, “no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether it was live or pre-recorded.”
So, there you have it. Beyoncé definitively maybe lip-synced her National Anthem rendition. This all feels very Homeland.
